March 2017 Newsletter: Loosen Up Your Yoga Pants and Let Your Lymph Flow and Open House Next Week

As I’ve mentioned in previous newsletters the part of my job that I like best is the continuing education. The opportunity to learn from the best healers in the country (likely the world) and to bring that back to the office to help my clients is awesome. I am truly thankful and feel very fortunate.

As I write this newsletter I’ve just returned from Concordia 2017, Physica Energetics conference and pre-conference. This year’s title is, “Beyond Flat World Medicine.” The pre-conference featured Dr. Davis Brockenshire and Dr. Robert Cass covering muscle testing techniques and a review of the product formulations. The conference features nine additional leading natural healers and practitioners, discussing topics such as what are the obstacles to healing and the nutritional deficiencies caused by hormone birth control methods.

One of the key components to nutritional healing is known as “drainage.” Without proper drainage organs and systems can become congested by toxins which can cause damage and create an obstacle to the healing process. Proper drainage of the Lymphatic System is critical for health. Read below for how yoga pants and tight fitting clothes may have an adverse affect on your body.

Also during February and March I am participating in a web-based training with Dr. Michael Gaeta, the Autoimmune Mastery Program. It is a six week program covering natural solutions for autoimmune diseases with additional sessions on Lyme disease and fibromyalgia. Dr. Gaeta works mainly with Standard Process and MediHerb products.

I look at these two trainings as the best of both worlds. Physica Energetics and Standard Process are the two top nutritional supplement lines I work with. I love the opportunity to learn more about them both and to bring this knowledge to my clients! Physica and Standard Process products work synergistically together as well. Both product lines were influenced by Dr. Royal Lee and his main formulator John Courtney.

Want to hear more? I’d love to share a few gems of learning from these two trainings with you at my Open House next week – March 9 at 7:00 PM. See below for details.

Loosen Your Yoga Pants
Sure, those yoga pants look great on you, but wearing them all day may not be optimal for your body. Your Lymphatic System is in charge of taking out cellular waste (think of it as your garbage removal system). Unlike the circulatory system or the digestive system, it does not have a pump. That is why movement is important to overall health as it creates pressure changes allowing the lymph to flow properly.

So what’s wrong with yoga pants (or other tight fitting clothes)? The same compression that keeps them tight to your body inhibits the flow of the lymph resulting in a congested lymphatic system. This condition is compounded by exercise. When you exercise you increase cellular waste. This waste wants to flow out. The yoga pants are blocking it. This creates toxic cells, an inflammatory response and can lead to a disease state. Also, inflammation brings water and water brings weight. Are you getting the picture?

Open House – March 9 at 7 PM
I’d love to share with you a few of the learning gems from these two trainings. Please come next Thursday at 7 PM to my Open House at the office at 10040 North Port Washington Road in Mequon. We’ll share some healthy food (soup, salad, and a desert) and some healthy knowledge. To make the session livelier I’ll be demonstrating some simple muscle testing techniques to see if you need some minerals (especially magnesium), if your brain is in balance, if your heart is in balance, and if your lymphatic system is draining. And we’ll be taste testing a new green powder called VitaLife Force from Physica Energetics – one tablespoon per day is all you need!

Here’s the questions I’ll be answering:
1. Why are you on my case about my yoga pants? What’s the big deal about lymph drainage?
2. Are there natural solutions to auto-immune disease?
3. Is my brain balanced? Do I need magnesium?
4. What nutritional deficiencies are caused by hormone birth control methods?

Not sure you want to join me? I’m offering an added incentive. You will receive 10% off your next supplement purchase and if you bring a friend who becomes a new client you’ll receive 15% off your next supplement purchase and your friend will get $50 off their initial consult!

The Power of Natural Solutions

Here’s one of the best healing stories from the past year.

My client wrote this along with the testimonial below, “Hope this is okay! It was a joy to recall how much my life has changed in this last year. Thank you so much!”

“Before I started working with Bernie, I was almost hopeless about ever finding the help I needed. At only 23, I had been experiencing joint pain, inflammation, brain fog, headaches, fatigue, irritability, constant muscle cramps, stiffness…the list goes on, for years already. I had been tested for MS, lupus, Lyme disease, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. and was getting nowhere. The last “solution” I received from a doctor was to go on an anti-depressant. I felt like I’d hit rock-bottom. Within 3 weeks of seeing Bernie, following his nutrition and supplement plan, my life had changed. It is not an overstatement to say it was as if I was a new person who finally had my life back. Bernie was thorough in explaining to me what the issues were and helped me remain positive and hopeful in my journey of healing. I am so grateful!”

February 2017 Newsletter: HPV No More and Referral Bonus Offer

Believe it or not, one of the most challenging tasks I face each month is the monthly newsletter. I’ve been doing the newsletter since 2010, now over six years. The challenge to keep it fresh, interesting, and timely; and at the same time not too controversial. Upon completion it is also one of my most rewarding activities of the month. I receive many positive comments from clients, other readers, and particularly Sofia from Argentina (my mother-in-law).

Over the past few years there has been a simultaneous change in the growth and scope of my practice. Fewer and fewer people come to me with the question about what to eat. When I started in the nutrition business over 10 years ago very few people knew what Paleo meant, let alone heard of a Paleo Diet. People were still afraid of butter and fat. Today bone broth, protein smoothies, full fat, grass fed beef are pretty much mainstream. There are countless books and websites to learn and purchase.

Yet, my practice continues to grow. It has evolved into customized nutrition programs for my clients. Utilizing client symptom information, muscle testing and blood testing we are able to determine what is causing stress and how to remedy it. Most people, even if they have transitioned to a healthy diet, still have nutritional deficiencies or toxins that are producing symptoms in their bodies. Or in other cases, they have some mysterious, unresolved health issue that either their doctor tells them “it is in your head”, or its “normal”, or will not resolve.

My business is built on referrals and I thank you all for helping my business grow. Below I highlight a recent case that I think you’ll find interesting.

With the New Year underway this is the time people start to take a close look at their health. If you have benefited from working with me, and you have relatives, friends, or acquaintances that you feel could be helped by a nutritional consult, now is the time to reach out to them. And, if you reach out to them, I’ll reach out to you. For each referral you will get a $25 off voucher to use on supplements or consultation time.

HPV No More
Here’s the case of someone who was referred to me last April. She was told she was deficient in minerals. That was true, but she also was suffering from HPV. We used muscle testing to identify which specific supplements would help her and here’s where we are now:

“I have tested positive for the HPV virus since 2012. My strain of HPV was persistent and I underwent two LEEP (loop electrosurgical excision procedure) procedures to remove abnormal cells. I started working with Rosen Wellness on April 28th of 2016, and in January of 2017 I learned that I no longer tested positive for the HPV virus. I believe this is due to the support I received through Rosen Wellness and Bernie Rosen.”

Her doctors were shocked. They had never seen this happen before. What is interesting to me is how they react. They do not ask her for more information on what she did. Perhaps another patient could benefit from the knowledge. Rather, they just told her to keep doing it! You would think that this might be a learning opportunity, but unfortunately that just does not happen.

January 2017 Newsletter: Start the Year with a Cleanse Plus: Purify the Body, Mind, and Soul and begin a Smart Exercise Program

Wow! That’s a long title for the newsletter, but it certainly is a great way to start the New Year!

If you’re like me (yes, me too!) It is time to get back on track from the Holidays. Drop those few extra pounds and cleanse the body with the 21 Day Purification Program. Susana and I will be starting it (January 14) upon our return from vacation and we’d like you to join us. For those who do, I have a very special offer – in fact the best incentive I’ve ever offered! See below for the details.
Not sure if you need to do the cleanse or not? Well, take this quick questionnaire to see: http://brwellness.com/docs/toxicity_questionnaire.pdf

Above, I also mentioned purifying the mind and soul, and starting a smart exercise program. I’ve mentioned these two books in the past and if you haven’t had a chance yet to review them, I strongly recommend it! They are: Body by Science by Doug McGuff, MD and John Little and The Emotion Code by Dr. Bradley Nelson. I’ll tell you more about them below.

But for those who can’t wait here’s a quick summary.
1. Do the 21 Day Purification Program and take advantage of this great offer!
2. Read the book Body by Science to learn how exercise impacts the body.
3. Read the book The Emotion Code to learn how to “release your trapped emotions for abundant health, love and happiness.” (That’s on the book’s cover.)

Of course if you do not have time to read the books, no problem as you can review my past blogs that summarize the books.

Cleanse Special Offer
I have a special offer this month for the Standard Process Purification Program. It is such a great offer, that I can’t even mention it here. But, I’ll tell you this – it is the largest incentive I have ever offered.
Please call or e-mail if you are interested, so I can tell you the price and we can arrange for you to pick up your kit!

Body by Science
In the past I’ve written a few articles about exercise. I’ve told you about PACE and PACE Express from Dr. Sears, BurstFit by Dr. Axe, and the Xiser stepper to name a few. All of these techniques are similar in they promote what is called “burst training” or “sprint training” and now “HIT” (high intensity training). All work off a similar premise – the human body was not designed to run a marathon and the average person does not have to spend hours upon hours exercising to get in shape.

In fact, they even boldly state that being fit is not necessarily the same as being healthy and that many people over-exercise which has negative impacts on their health. This has been my experience with many of my clients. They come to me and say, “I don’t get it. I work out every day with my trainer and I keep gaining weight.”

Body by Science explains all the whys behind this. It provides the research and the science behind how exercise impacts the body. Here’s a link to the web site: http://www.bodybyscience.net/home.html/. There are videos, blogs, and other helpful information. I highly recommend it.

Here’s the links to my blog articles summarizing the book:

The Emotion Code
As many of you are aware, there is more to the body than just the pure physical – there is the emotional and the spiritual as well. True health is not only a healthy body, but also a healthy mind and soul. There is a wide source of literature and studies supporting the role of emotion in our health. It is the basis for a variety of “energetic medicine” type practices.

The Emotion Code focuses on Dr. Bradley Nelson’s work with his chiropractic patients not only on their physical level, but on their emotional (and spiritual) level as well. He has found how emotions create the physical symptoms of his patients and by clearing the emotions the patient returns to health.

The book explains it all and gives the reader the tools to release their trapped emotions. Here’s a link to his website for more information. Warning – he’s selling all kinds of stuff which is usually a red flag for me, but all you really need is the book – so if you’re interested just start there before you go crazy buying stuff!!

And, over the next few months I’ll offer more insight in the newsletters as well. Here’s the link: http://www.healerslibrary.com/

Happy New Year! My best wishes to you, your family, and your loved ones for a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year!

December 2016 Newsletter: In Loving Memory of Leo Rosen

This month’s newsletter is late and brief due to the passing of my Father last week. He lived a good and long life, just three months short of his 92nd birthday. From the Model T to the I-Phone he was certainly a member of what is now known as “The Greatest Generation.” He was a loving father, grandfather, and husband; successful attorney, World War II navy veteran, and polio survivor. We will all miss him dearly.

Interestingly enough, he almost died last March after getting a bacterial infection in the hospital. So I’ve decided to feature an article below about the dangers of bacteria in the hospital. He died of kidney failure, my belief from all the medications he was on during that battle and throughout the later years of his life. So, I’m also featuring an article on that subject.

I will be out of the office from December 30 until January 12 of next year. I will send another reminder in a few weeks, but please plan ahead for your supplement needs. I will be out of the country, so not able to get things to you.

Hospital Acquired Infections

Here are several articles from Dr. Mercola covering this issue in depth. What can you do about it? Besides eating right and taking care of yourself to avoid the hospital I generally recommend to take lots of probiotics while in the hospital and upon release.

One in 25 patients end up with hospital acquired infections. Here’s the article: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2011/02/04/death-by-medicine-an-update.aspx

This hospital mistake kills 60,000 people per year. Here’s the article: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2014/04/09/hospital-acquired-infections.aspx

And one more, why hospital beds should have danger signs on them. Here’s the article: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2016/10/26/hospital-infections.aspx

Over use of Medications and Kidney Failure
Ever wonder why all the drug advertisements warn you about your kidneys?

Heartburn drugs linked to kidney disease. Here’s the article: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2016/02/03/heartburn-drugs-kidney-disease-risk.aspx

Regular use of aspirin and Tylenol linked to kidney disease. Here’s the article: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2002/01/05/aspirin-part-four.aspx

Certain types of antibiotics can cause kidney failure: Here’s the article: http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/10/20/fluoroquinolones-side-effects.aspx

November 2016 Newsletter: My Most Compliant Client – Likes His Supplements So Much He Even Begs for Them!

Yes, I’m talking about our dog Barry! Dogs are people too! And just like humans many of them suffer from nutritional deficiencies and ultimately disease. Just last year I read an article in Barron’s about the high profitability and growth of the drug manufacturer Pfizer’s veterinary product business stating approximately 70% of US pets are on at least one medication! Most of our pets are eating highly processed cereal based foods. In short they’re on the same bad diets as their owners, so wind up with the same diseases.

I’ve written in the past about Standard Process’ veterinary product line and even linked to a Veterinarian who advocates purification programs for animals. Well, recently I took it a step further and had Barry muscle tested by Sue Howell, a local Standard Process employee. Sue was trained in muscle testing by my mentor Dr. Joe Teff, so she used a similar technique.

Barry is a bit overweight, so she recommended a new diet and some supplements to address his nutritional deficiencies. We started with the supplements and he loves them! Now, every time I go into the kitchen where I keep his supplements he comes in looking for more. And as you can see by the video linked here he devours them quickly! To enjoy the video of Barry enjoying his supplements click here and just scroll down a bit on the page and you’ll see it: https://www.facebook.com/Rosen-Wellness-LLC-112725808745/.

We’ve started with the supplements and Barry’s diet is next to change in a few weeks. I’ll keep you updated on his progress!

Here’s a Happy Compliant Human!

Here’s an email I received a few weeks ago:
“Hi Bernie –
I just want to say – wow – whatever we switched to has me feeling great. I have energy, am sleeping well and am actually starting to drop a pound or two. Soy – no problem, peppers – fine, wheat – find. Dairy – that is a toughy. I am still nibbling on a bit of white cheese but will try and cut that out.
Yeah – another layer of the onion is peeling away.”

The Cold and Flu Season Awaits

While we’re having a record breaking warm day today here in Wisconsin we all know what is just around the corner. With the colder weather comes the cold and flu season. As I’ve mentioned previously I recommend that all clients have on hand Congaplex Chewable and Andrographis Complex by Standard Process – a great way to boost your immune system when you feel something coming on. Take 1-2 Congaplex every hour and 1 Andrographis Complex every 4 hours you’re awake and usually in a day or two you’re feeling fine.

October 2016 Newsletter Vitamins: Good for You or a Scam?

The most common questions asked of me by clients and the general public is: “Do I really need vitamins? I hear they don’t really work. Can’t I get everything from food?” One of my clients even sent me the September 2016 article from Consumer Reports panning the vitamin industry. You’ll probably be surprised to discover that I actually agree with many of the points in the article. Yet you’ll see that the article omits other important information, thus it fails to provide the full picture. These issues (do vitamins work and can I get it all from food) are addressed in two new articles featured below.

I recently attended the 2016 Back to School for Doctors program in Denver, Colorado sponsored by Standard Process West. I’ve been attending for the past several years. Mark Anderson is one of the most knowledgeable speakers in the country regarding natural health and supplements. This year’s program featured heart health and I came away with new knowledge to help reduce cholesterol in a natural way which I have already applied twice today to clients!

As we head into fall and soon winter it’s time to be ready for cold and flu season. I encourage all my clients to have on hand two supplements for when they feel something coming on. These are Congaplex Chewable from Standard Process and Andrographis Complex from MediHerb. If you would like more information on these please call or send an email.

Good Supplements Bad Supplements
One of my most popular public talks is called “Good Supplements Bad Supplements.” The reason it is so popular is that most of the general public is very confused about whether or not to use nutritional supplements. “If vitamins are supposed to be good for us, why do I read in the paper and hear on television reports they are not?”

There are many articles written by “experts” such as the September 2016 article in Consumer Reports that pan the use of supplements. Two years ago I reported on another study that concluded that vitamin supplementation was not helpful (and in fact some suggested it could be harmful). There were no significant differences in positive outcomes between people taking vitamins and those not taking them. Another study specific to Vitamin E and “antioxidant” supplementation found that those taking the supplements experienced worse outcomes (more heart disease and cancer) than those not taking the supplements.

For years we have been told by alternative health practitioners and the vitamin and supplement industry that Vitamin E and “antioxidants” are supposed to protect against heart disease and cancer. This appears to be counter-intuitive. Can they both be right?

What They Ate What We Eat
“I eat very healthy.” “My doctor tells me I can get all the vitamins and minerals I need from food.” I often hear one or both of these statements from my clients.

Here’s my response: It is great that you eat healthy because that is the foundation to build upon. However, it is very unlikely that you can get everything you need from your food. There are two main reasons for this. First, most people have not eaten “very healthy” all their lives, so therefore it is likely that they have some nutritional deficiencies. Second, and most important – what we eat today is very different from what was eaten not too long ago by our ancestors. To read the rest of the article and to learn the differences between what they ate and what we eat click here: http://brwellness.com/nutrition-news/?p=707.

The surprising answer is yes, they can both be “right.” It all depends what was being tested and understanding the basic principles behind vitamin metabolism in the human body. Vitamins appear in nature as part of a complex composed of several biochemical factors. For example, in nature Vitamin C is in an orange and Vitamin E is in wheat germ and leafy green vegetables. However, this is not what was “studied” in the research. What was used were alpha tocopherol as Vitamin E and ascorbic acid as Vitamin C. The government allows you to say these are the same things. But they are not. Ascorbic acid and alpha tocopherol are produced in laboratories – they are synthetic vitamins. For example you can combine sulphuric acid and sugar and get ascorbic acid.

Without going into all the details let’s take a simple example of how this works in the human body, not in a test tube. Scurvy is a Vitamin C deficiency disease. British sailors used lemons and limes to prevent scurvy on their long ocean voyages. Guess what happens if you give ascorbic acid to someone with scurvy? Their condition will not improve. They need the full Vitamin C complex as it is in nature, as the British sailors used, not the fractionated part made in a lab.

When we provide only the fractionated, synthetically produced “vitamin” we are not getting the true vitamin as nature intended. Unfortunately some 95% of all vitamin products sold today fall into the synthetic category.

Let’s take a look at the Consumer Reports article claims. As I said I agree with much of what they say, but we also need to look at the full picture.

They say that vitamin manufacturers “don’t have to secure Food and Drug Administration approval to sell their products, and their facilities aren’t policed the same way as pharmaceutical companies.” True, not the same way, but they are still subject to inspections and regulations. If you don’t believe me go on a tour of the Standard Process manufacturing facility and see what they do!

The article suggests that supplements are unproven and unsafe and offers figures on complaints, health problems, life threatening conditions, and deaths from supplements. I’m sure those reports are true, but they do not say specifically which products cause the most problems and what other factors may be involved. There are definitely poor quality supplements made by questionable manufacturers that are purchased regularly by the unsuspecting public. Yet, at the same time they fail to point out that much larger numbers of people have similar reactions to medications! Death by medication happens to be one of the leading causes of mortality in the United States!

They provide a list of “15 ingredients to always avoid.” I don’t have the time or space to go through all of them and again in some instances they are correct. One example of not telling the full story is red yeast rice. Red yeast rice is often the natural alternative to a statin medication. The article lists claimed benefits and then risks of red yeast rice. What is not mentioned is that all the risks associated with red yeast rice are identical to the side effects of statins!

One of the true problem areas of supplements are the “quick-fix” highly promoted ones such as weight loss, body building, and sexual enhancement. These are commonly found to contain pharmaceutical drugs or illegal chemicals. This does not surprise me. Like in all industries, there are some bad actors and the supplement industry is no different. These types of supplements are frequently sold with false or misleading claims on the label.

The last point is they mention the increasing popularity of supplements being distributed by doctors and hospitals and how there is an increase in associated problems. This makes perfect sense to me for two reasons. First, these people are really not trained in the proper use of nutritional supplements and second they are using mostly synthetic vitamins and poorly made herbal formulas.

The lesson of this is buying cheap, synthetic, fractionated vitamins is likely a waste of money which is common to all the studies and the article. You may have experienced this yourself when you have noticed bright yellow urine after taking a “B-Complex” vitamin. Your body can’t use the stuff, so it is getting rid of it.

However, eating real food and using supplements that have been made from real whole foods will provide you with the promised health benefits. This is based on real research. The original studies and identification of vitamins was done with real foods and seeing the effects of removing these foods from animal diets. Specific diseases (the vitamin deficiency diseases) that humans were experienced were reproduced in animals based on the real foods. So, it is real. Specific vitamins do support specific functions in the body but only do so when they are delivered in the natural form in which the body was designed to utilize them.

What They Ate, What We Eat

“I eat very healthy.” “My doctor tells me I can get all the vitamins and minerals I need from food.”

I often hear one or both of these statements from my clients.

Here’s my response: It is great that you eat healthy because that is the foundation to build upon. However, it is very unlikely that you can get everything you need from your food. There are two main reasons for this. First, most people have not eaten “very healthy” most of their lives. Therefore they are likely to have nutritional deficiencies. Second, and most important – what we eat today is very different from what our ancestors ate, and by ancestors I mean our grandparents and great-grandparents (think the 1920s). In the rest of this article we will explore some of the key differences between “traditional diets” and “modern diets.”

To get right to the point according to Sally Fallon Morrell, President of the Weston Price Foundation, “traditional diets maximized nutrients while modern diets minimize nutrients!” Here’s why:

Traditional diets foods came from fertile soil. Modern diets foods come from depleted soil. Numerous studies support the reduction of vitamin content of food since the 1930’s. Modern mass farming techniques do not replenish nutrients into the soil.

Traditional diets favored organ meats over muscle meats. Modern diets are almost entirely muscle meats with very few organ meats. Organ meats are loaded with specific nutrients that are essential to that specific organ’s function. For example, liver is loaded with B vitamins and Vitamins A and D. Muscle meat is mostly protein. True protein is important, but so are other nutrients.

Traditional diets emphasized animal fats. Modern diets stress vegetable oils. Animal fats are high in fat soluble vitamins (A, D, E and K) and do not oxidize when cooked. Vegetable oils are highly processed such as corn oil, vegetable oil, soybean oil, cottonseed oil, or canola oil. These oils are inflammatory to the body. Of course even worse are the trans-fats in margarine.

Traditional diets had animals that were raised in pastures. Modern diets have animals raised in confinement. Animals raised in pastures are generally healthier and eat the foods they were designed to eat. Cows eat grass and their fat becomes Omega 3. When cows eat grains and corn they produce inflammatory Omega 6 fats. Chickens are not vegetarians! Animals raised in confinement are fed hormones to grow faster and given antibiotics to control bacterial infections. We are what we eat eats and these substances are being found in samples of our blood!

Traditional diets had dairy products that were raw or fermented. Modern diets have pasteurized dairy products. Raw or fermented dairy products contain their natural vitamins and healthy bacteria. Pasteurization kills the nutrients or makes them bio-unavailable while homogenizing makes the fats unusable to the body as well.

Traditional diets had grains and legumes that were soaked and/or fermented. Modern diets have refined and extruded grains. Soaked and fermented grains and legumes are easily digestible. Refined grains have the protein and fat removed so we are just left with the starch. Diets high in refined grains keep blood sugar levels high resulting in inflammation, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer. Extruded grains are damaged by the heating process, so even whole grain cereals are not healthy as the fats have been damaged during the processing.

Traditional diets had unrefined sweeteners such as honey and maple syrup. Modern diets have refined sugars and artificial sweeteners. Refined sugars are linked to all modern diseases and artificial sweeteners are no better!

Traditional diets had lacto-fermented vegetables. Modern diets have canned vegetables. Lacto-fermented vegetables are more easily digested, contain healthy bacteria, and have all their nutrients. The canning process reduces the nutrient content of the vegetables.

Traditional diets had lacto-fermented beverages. Modern diets have soft drinks. Lacto-fermented beverages contain healthy bacteria and vital nutrients. Soft drinks are loaded with sugar, artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, and artificial flavors.

Traditional diets had unrefined salt. Modern diets have refined salt. Unrefined salts contain high volumes of trace minerals. Refined salt is just sodium.

Traditional diets had natural vitamins in foods. Modern diets have synthetic vitamins added. Real food has real vitamins and minerals. Processed foods lose the real vitamins and minerals during processing so synthetic vitamins are added back to make the food appear nutritious, but these synthetic vitamins are often rejected by the body.

Traditional diets had natural seeds. Modern diets have hybrid and GMO seeds. Natural seeds are as nature designed. Hybrid and GMO seeds are designed by man to produce greater yield. At the same time they allow for a large amount of pesticides and herbicides which are getting into the food and stay in our bodies wrecking much havoc, similar to the antibiotics and hormones being fed to confined animals.

So, as you can see Sally Fallon Morrell is right. By their very nature traditional diets maximized nutrient content while the modern diets minimize nutrients. This is why it is unlikely that you can get sufficient vitamins and minerals from your food unless you are very strict. I have been brief with all the points due to space limitations here, but elsewhere on my blog you can see many articles providing more details.

September 2016 Newsletter – Does Your Cell Phone Give You A Headache?

Does Your Cell Phone Give You A Headache?
Whenever I use my cell phone and hold it by my ear I get a headache within a few minutes. Several months ago I got a new car equipped with Bluetooth. The first time I used it I got a headache. Recently I had to install a new router in my home office and guess what – all of a sudden I got headaches near the computer. If you are like me you are sensitive to EMFs. These are electromagnetic fields.

According to Dr. William Rea, Director of the Environmental Health Center in Dallas, Texas, sensitivity to these is becoming a major health problem of the 21st century.

EMFs are creating major challenges for many people in today’s world. Some are forced to live completely “off the grid” while others like myself are fortunate enough that are some solutions that help us get by on a daily basis. What can you do about it? The place to start is education and that is the purpose of this month’s newsletter.

Are You Being Zapped?
One of the best resources for learning about EMFs and other sources of electromagnetic pollution are from my friend and mentor Ann Louise Gittleman. A few years ago she wrote a book called Zapped: Why Your Cell Phone Shouldn’t be Your Alarm Clock and 1,268 Ways to Outsmart the Hazards of Electronic Pollution. I highly recommend you read it. It explains what electromagnetic pollution is, where it comes from, and what you can do about it.

As Ann Louise says, “The very technological innovations that have changed our lives are also exposing us to an unprecedented number of manmade electromagnetic fields that are impacting us on a biological level. Low level, non ionizing invisible radiation is surrounding us twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, playing havoc with our bodies. And for some, electropollution has even reached the point of toxicity, creating a whole host of seemingly unrelated symptoms including cortisol spikes, irritability, hyper activity, insomnia, nervousness, chronic fatigue and more serious illness.”

Get Yourself Grounded with Earthing
Another excellent resource for information comes from The Earthing Institute. As they say, “Throughout time, we humans have sat, stood, strolled, and slept on the ground – the skin of our bodies touching the skin of the Earth. And throughout time, such ordinary contact served as a conduit for transferring the Earth’s natural, gentle negative charge underfoot into the body. You see, we are bioelectrical beings living on an electrical planet.

Modern lifestyle has disconnected us from this primordial charge. Earthing, also known as grounding, is the landmark discovery that the disconnect may make us more vulnerable to inflammation, pain, stress, poor sleep, and illness. Ongoing research is demonstrating clearly that reconnecting with the Earth upholds the electrical stability of our bodies and serves as a foundation for vitality, health, and healing. In an age of rampant chronic inflammation and disease, “grounding” ourselves provides a natural, simple yet powerful path to better health.”

Their website offers a wide variety of information and Earthing products. Click here for more information http://www.earthinginstitute.net/.

Are You in Line with Natures Frequencies?

A third source of information and products is Nature’s Frequencies. This is a company I was referred to by another mentor of mine, Dr. Joe Teff. I am a distributor of their products as I’ve found they are very helpful for clients with EMF issues. They make products that are wearable on the body and that can be placed on the item emitting EMFs.

On my phone I have the EMF cell phone chip. I am so sensitive that even with the chip I can only have a short conversation before getting a headache, but the chip helps so that I can use the phone on speaker.

The EMF cell phone chips solved the router problem as I put the chips on the wires coming into the routers. No more headaches in the office!

Unfortunately I have not resolved the car and Bluetooth issue as of yet other than not using the feature.

Nature’s Frequencies has some other interesting products that I’ve used myself and have tested with clients. I’ve had the most success with the Sleep Chip. I have samples of the Sleep Chip and the Headache & Migraine Chip that I’m looking for volunteers to see how they work. So, if you’re interested let me know.

August 2016 Newsletter – It’s The Summer: Enjoy the Sun

As usual, the summer seems to be flying by. But, there is still time to enjoy it!

This month’s newsletter has three features. First, there are so many areas where the “natural health” world and the “mainstream health” world seem to clash. It is not only regarding what foods to eat, whether or not to vaccinate, but also what to do about the Sun. The “mainstream” view is to put on lots of sunscreen and you’ll be protected from sunburn and skin cancer. The “natural” view is that all this sunscreen is likely contributing to skin cancer, sun exposure is good for our health, and there are ways to protect ourselves from overdoing it. I feature a couple of articles below from the “natural” side of the debate.

Second, one of my favorite nutritionists and mentors is Ann Louise Gittleman. I’ve mentioned her several times in the past. One of the sun articles is from her and she had another very interesting article this past month about the link between medications, nutritional deficiencies caused by the medications, and then the resultant additional symptoms suffered. This particular article looks at the link between birth control pills and depression.

Third, I have another wonderful testimonial from a 25 year old female who had a lingering parasitic infection.

I hope you enjoy the newsletter.

Have Fun in the Sun

As mentioned above, sun exposure is one of those areas where the “natural” and “mainstream” worlds seem to clash. In “Sunscreen Savvy” Ann Louise discusses how the sun is an important nutrient and how to safely get your sun. You can read the article here: http://annlouise.com/2016/07/19/sunscreen-savvy/.

Another of my favorite sources of “natural” information is GreenMedInfo. Here’s a link to their feature about the benefits of sun exposure: http://www.greenmedinfo.com/therapeutic-action/sunlight-exposure.

Birth Control Pills and Depression
From Ann Louise Gittleman, “I have been concerned—no, make that worried—about the nutrient depletion impact of meds for years. Many anti-depressants can make us fat while others impact our ability to exercise (like statins). So—to get the low down on which class of drugs might be making us depressed, I turned to my friend the Natural Pharmacist Ross Pelton who wrote The Drug-Induced Nutrient Depletion Handbook a number of years ago.

In it, I was astounded to learn that oral contraceptives are downright dangerous because they deplete more nutrients than any other class of prescribed meds. When I learned Ross had also written a book called The Pill Problem, I asked him to weigh in on how women can protect their health from the side effects of oral contraceptives.” Click here to read more about what Ross Pelton told Ann Louise: http://annlouise.com/2016/07/26/the-drugdepression-connection.

“The Bumps and Indentations are Gone”

Hello Bernie!

I’m terribly sorry I forgot to respond to your email. Anyways, all is well with me! I had some severe discomfort and pain towards the end of my stay in China (probably 3 months)…I believe that it actually had to do with the parasite finally leaving my body.

Thank you so much for checking in! I will definitely contact you should I have anymore concerns regarding foreign invaders!

Oh also, those bumps that were once on my arms and backs of legs are completely gone now. And the indentations on my nails are also gone!
