Last month we introduced you to our 22-year old female client “L.S.” and the magic of muscle testing. As a refresher, she presented with asthma, digestive and skin issues. The “magic” of the muscle testing was identifying her mold exposure as an infant. The combination of removing corn from her diet and supplements to support detoxifying from mold began resolution of her asthma and digestive issues. However, the skin issue remained, and that is where the story continues below in The Magic of Muscle Testing – Part 2 – He had found that I had a parasitic infection. I was completely shocked!”

Since the start of the pandemic we have continuously recommended supporting your immune system. We have featured several articles addressing healthy eating and immune system supporting supplements. This month we explore the importance of a good night’s sleep. See below for Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams.

Our third feature article is repeated from last month due to its importance to your health. We encourage everyone to take Vitamin D. See below for why.

The Magic of Muscle Testing – Part 2 – “He had found that I had a parasitic infection. I was completely shocked!”

Last month we introduced you to L.S. – a 22-year old female, presenting with asthma, digestive and skin issues. The initial muscle testing revealed a corn sensitivity and a mold exposure.

“I have been going to Rosen Wellness for about 2 1/2 months. I started seeing Bernie for some issues I had been having with my skin. I am 23, and my entire life I had clear, healthy skin. I had never struggled with acne before. Starting in August, I began battling some horrible cystic acne breakouts. It started on my cheeks and then began covering my whole face. I tried my usual skin care routine with washing my face and on-spot treatments but nothing was working. The acne got worse and even more painful as the months went on. After a few visits with Bernie, he wanted to take a deeper look at what could be causing this sudden acne. Our initial thought was hormonal acne, because of my age. However, upon further muscle testing, he concluded that my hormones were functioning normally. He tested a few more things and when he was done he had discovered the root cause. He had found that I had a parasitic infection. I was completely shocked!”

Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams

During my initial consult with a client I always include questions about their sleep. I have always known or assumed that sleep was important and that adults should get 7-8 hours of sleep per night. However, until recently reading Why We Sleep: Unlocking the Power of Sleep and Dreams by Matthew Walker, PhD, I never imagined the extent of its importance – how it effects our lives, wellness, and longevity.

Much of the science behind the benefits of sleep and the devastating health consequences of lack of sleep has been discovered the last twenty years. Matthew Walker is a neuroscientist and sleep expert who has conducted his own original research and pulled together that of others. His conclusions are that sleep has many functions. It enhances our ability to learn, memorize, and make logical decisions; recalibrates our emotions; strengthens our immune system; and regulates our metabolism and appetite. He also finds that dreaming alleviates painful memories and allows the brain to merge past and present knowledge to inspire creativity.

One More Time – Take Vitamin D!

While we do not generally like to repeat articles in the newsletter, we feel strongly that everyone should be taking Vitamin D.

First, it has been found that Vitamin D can protect cells from certain viruses, including the coronavirus. There is an enzyme called ACE 2 (Angiotensin converting enzyme 2) that attaches to the outer surface of cells in the lungs, arteries, heart, kidney, and intestines. Apparently, ACE2 serves as the entry point into cells for some viruses. Vitamin D blocks or fills the receptor sites of the ACE2 so the virus cannot get into the cell.

Second, most people are Vitamin D deficient. Experts believe that we should have 80-100 ng/mL of Vitamin D in our blood.

Third, there are many reports surfacing showing correlations between Vitamin D levels and COVID-19 experiences. Here is an example: COVID Patients Vitamin D

Now that we are in the winter months, we have fewer opportunities to gather the Sunshine Vitamin (D) the natural way. So, if you are not currently taking Vitamin D we strongly encourage you start. Especially now we suggest you invest in your health and consider the other immune system supporting supplements we have previously presented.
